“Look at the Brisbane Bullets. The Sydney Kings asked the question of him. There are a lot of teams who need that backup big spot.”

With free agency in full swing, there are plenty of gaps around the league that need to be filled with a local big man.

One name that NBL fans will be familiar with has recently popped up for a potential return to the league, according to ESPN's Olgun Uluc.

“Angus Brandt is someone who has a ton of interest,” Uluc said on The Marketplace.

“We speak about teams wanting backup bigs and guys who can come in that are reliable ... those who are a good locker room guys, and Angus Brandt fits the bill.”

The 35-year-old hasn’t played in Australia since 2019, but has been on teams’ radars in recent years for a return home.

“He's been playing in Division 2 Japan, but he's someone who a lot of teams are looking at,” Uluc added.

“Look at the Brisbane Bullets. The Sydney Kings asked the question of him. There are a lot of teams who need that backup big spot.”

With the remaining talent pool for big men beginning to thin, perhaps this off-season is the one where the two-time NBL champion decides it’s the right time.

“He’s someone who's flagged that he's willing to return home. So keep an eye on that one.”
